According To Jasmine Masters, Where Did The RPDR Holiday Special Go Wrong?

Jasmine Masters Talks Walking Off From Drag Race’s Holiday Special!

This Queen Always Has Something To Say!

Did any of you watch the RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-slay Spectacular? Yeah, I definitely did not because the only time I like watching any reality series is to see competition, not some light-hearted Hallmark Channel movie with drag queens. Allegedly, it was a big mess of an advertisement to buy anything RuPaul, which is smart marketing for her to the ones who want her merchandise and albums. But, I may be watching it to witness exactly what RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7 Alumni, Jasmine Masters, is ranting about in her latest video uploaded to YouTube!

If you aren’t familiar with Masters, you must be out of touch from anything Drag Race. Masters didn’t place well during her first time in the competition, but her slew of self-uploaded videos have garnered her hilarity tons of attention and has made me, a hard critic on what viral videos to watch, a total fanboy. From speaking her truth and becoming one of the most entertaining drag queens post-show, Masters now has a slot on the highly anticipated Drag Race All Stars season 4, premiering this Friday, December 14th on VH1. Masters has been on the tip of everyone’s tongues, again, after releasing a viral rant on the Holi-slay Spectacular she participated in. According to her recent YouTube video, there was drama during production. Gee, with drag queens who are heading mainstream? Ya think?!

Masters starts the video immediately saying “Let’s go on and talk some real sh!t! Everyone wants to know what’s going on. I might as well go on and tell the truth.” Masters admits she hasn’t seen the special (as far as four days ago), but she clearly knows what she’s talking about. She discusses walking away from production on day two, why she doesn’t have any confessionals, and her irritation with mega-popular drag queen, Shangela’s unprofessional antics. Masters tells us:

“So why you don’t see no confessionals of me? Honestly, it’s because I left. Everything we had a call time on doing, Shangela’s ass was late. And by that second day, I could not have no more of this girl showing up late, taking 45 minutes extra to get ready, my nerves could not take it anymore. I go outside after finding out what was on hold [Shangela]. RuPaul herself said ‘Let’s get this shit on a roll. I have shit to do. Why are we not rolling? Oh, Shangela, again?’ I gave them about fifteen to twenty minutes, I sat there and rolled two blunts. They [Producers] live for Shangela. I don’t breathe Shangela. When it comes to anyone wasting my time on bullshit, I don’t handle that politely. She’s the type of person who is always late. How many times are you going to hold people up? You are wasting my time on some bullshit. That’s why you don’t see no confessionals from me. I left off the set. Y’all kiss [Shangela] ass, I don’t. When I reached out to [Shangela] for help, she gave me a cold shoulder. I’ll never forget that. I’m not seen, because I left. Shangela thinks she’s someone she’s not. If you were clocking in to a job and your ass plugged in late, they’d fire your ass. They are letting someone who isn’t running shit, be late.”

Masters goes on to say she doesn’t want to work with Shangela again unless they can work completely independently AKA not during a production, but at a bar with different call times. Masters admits Shangela tried apologizing to her via telephone, but she wouldn’t accept it. Allegedly, Eureka O’Hara also wanted to stop production after tiring herself out, which Masters cussed her out for. While her irritation is warranted, Masters’ mind was heavily weighed due to a death during filming and may have led to her frustration coming forward quicker.

I mean, even after Masters’ rant…Shangela still should’ve won All Stars 3!

Will RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 4 Be Another Team Season?

If you’re like me, you’ve planned your holiday parties around the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4. Come Friday, my house’s windows will be shattering from laughter, gasps, and echoing wig snatching bursting through the ether.

After the beginning of 2018 hit us hard with Drag Race fandom with All Stars 3 and Season 10, it seems that VH1 won’t let us ring in the new year without giving us a triple dose of Drag Race.

The queens vying for the crown this season are:

  • Manila Luzon (Season 3, All Stars 1)
  • Latrice Royale (Season 4, Miss Congeniality, All Stars 1)
  • Gia Gunn (Season 6)
  • Jasmine Masters (Season 7)
  • Naomi Smalls (Season 8)
  • Trinity ‘The Tuck’ Taylor (Season 9)
  • Valentina (Season 9, Miss Congeniality “Fan Favorite”)
  • Farrah Moan (Season 9)
  • Monét X Change (Season 10, Miss Congeniality)
  • Monique Heart (Season 10)

And if you can’t wait until Friday’s premiere, you can head to social media to see that the world has exploded with a preview that features the first 14 minutes of the premiere episode of All Stars 4.

In the video you see the queens’ fierce opening looks and you experience the shade from the very beginning. What the initial 8 queens don’t know is that into the competition will sashay two members of Drag Race royalty, Latrice Royale and Manila Luzon—better known as Team Latrila.

Does this mean All Stars 4 will be a return to the nightmare that was All Stars 1’s team challenge?

Check out the first 14 minutes of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4, grab your favorite holiday drink, and sip (don’t gag) on all the drama:

Was The Holi-Slay Spectacular Just a Promotional Tool For RuPaul’s Christmas Album?

I was lucky enough to have cable TV on my flight back from San Francisco last night. The only reason why I was excited about this was because RuPaul’s Holi-Slay Spectacular was premiering while I was mid-air, and I feared missing out on all of the wintry & dragged out type fun that this show is known for.

By the time the episode finished, I was left in a state of confusion and puzzlement. Spoiler alerts ahead for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, so if you don’t want to know what happened, don’t read on (Read this lovely Drag Race countdown I did instead here!)

The one-hour special was designed to crown America’s First Xmas Queen from a group of talented past competitors. Latrice RoyaleTrixie MattelShangela,SoniqueKim ChiJasmine MastersMayhem Miller and Eureka were all in the running… for ultimately nothing as Ru crowned them all winners by the end of the episode.

There were several moments throughout the show that highlighted tracks from Ru’s album Slay Belles (available on iTunes of course). This included when the girls danced their way down the Werk Room next to some near naked men who were dressed up in some festive holiday garb (meaning just shorts and nothing else), during the choreographed number on the runway stage and even when they were all chatting while beating their face.

We also finally got to see Ru and Michelle Visage lip sync at the end of the episode, which was hilarious and amazing to watch all at the same time.

It was cute, don’t get me wrong. It was also nice to see some queens who haven’t been back on the show in a while, notably Sonique (GORGEOUS!) At the same time, there was really no differentiation in determining how they were going to crown one of them the prize, as the fashions, choreography and general fabulosity was on point by all.

If I had to choose a winner from the group, it would possibly be Mayhem only because her fashion stood out from the rest. The other girls went kind of traditional with their holiday runway looks, however the season 10 competitor went against the red, green and white ensembles that became redundant with something much darker and different. Kudos to Sonique as well for making a beige gingerbread type outfit look totally fierce.

Not much of a difference in the choreography as well… everyone stood out. To me, this was more of a fun addition to a show that has had so much success in the past year alone. It also served as a way to endlessly promote All Stars 4, which premieres next Friday. They aired an extended trailer for it, where it appears the All Stars rules (the girls eliminate each other as opposed to the judges) have been “temporarily suspended.”

Ho, ho ho… hennies.

Queens Kissing, Half-Naked Men & More: 5 Things to Expect From RuPaul's Holi-Slay Spectacular

RuPaul’s Drag Race is back! It feels as if we are still untucking from the excitement surrounding the season 10 finale, however this show is too hot right now to take an elongated break beyond the holidays hence the Holi-Slay Spectacular that is premiering tonight on VH1. It takes place only one week before All Stars 4 begins next Friday, December 14th. This will more than likely then lead to season 11 premiering sometime in 2019. Hennnnnny.

The Holi-Slay Spectacular, where 8 Drag Race alum compete for the title of America’s First Drag Race Xmas Queen, is a 1-hour special that will be filled with half-naked men, drag queens kissing and so much more.

Here are 5 things to look out for before watching the holiday-themed episode tonight:

The group of 8 queens competing is a pretty fantastic bunch that appeared on a variety of season and did very well for themselves during their initial (and some follow up) time on the show. Eureka O’Hara, Shangela, Jasmine Masters, Kim Chi, Mayhem Miller, Latrice Royale, Sonique and reigning All Stars champion Trixie Mattel are all vying for that important holiday crown this evening. Who has the best shot at winning it though?

There are some fan theories out there that Shangela will and should win the title due to this being her fourth time competing. Many thought she was robbed of the All Stars 3 title earlier this year, so this could be her holiday redemption on a show that has catapulted her to superstardom.

It’s gonna get a little hot in the werk room courtesy of Mayhem and Trixie who share an intimate kiss (see clip here). “I brought mistletoe, anyone wanna kai kai?,” the season 10 star asked which Trixie then jumps at the opportunity to do so.

Mayhem also gets into it with Eureka over who will win the crown come episode’s end. “I’m about to win this whole competition,” she exclaims before the season 10 runner up chimes in with “Lies and deceit! You’ve gotta be jolly like Santa to win ‘Christmas Queen."

There will also be a ton of half-naked men decked in some very revealing holiday wear. So if that’s the only reason you watch, then so be it.

RuPaul’s Holi-Slay Spectacular airs tonight, December 7th, at 8:00 PM on VH1.

Across The Pond Realness: 'RuPaul's Drag Race U.K' Premieres Next Year!

RuPaul and co are heading across the pond... henny!

BBC announced on Wednesday that RuPaul's Drag Race: U.K. is coming to BBC 3 in 2019. It will be an eight-part series that will feature local talent competing for the "Queen of Great Britain". This is happening after years of speculation that the show would makes its way to the land where David Beckham, Cheryl Cole and many more currently call home.

“I am beyond excited to celebrate the massive charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of the Queen’s queens,” Ru said in a statement. “And before anyone asks, yes, we would be thrilled to have Meghan Markle join us, as we are already preparing a ’Royal-Mother-To-Be’ runway challenge.”

And yes, longtime Drag Race judge Michelle Visage will be part of the panel when the show premieres next year.

“It’s great to see that RuPaul is bringing Drag Race to the U.K.,” Kim Sanders, head of media engagement at Stonewall UK told BBC News. “We’re always keen to see more representation and celebration of the LGBT community on screen and we can’t wait to see the UK Queens make their bid for the crown.”

World of Wonder shared the exciting news on their Instagram early Wednesday morning:

Werk! The Cast of All Stars 4 Reinterpreted as a Classic Christmas Jingle

We are almost two weeks away from RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 4 beginning... hunties!

VH1 and World of Wonder are clearly whetting our drag appetites when it comes to all the previews they've provided for us already.

First, there was the 90 minute cast Ruveal with All Stars 3 winner Trixie Mattel and All Stars 2 finalists Katya and Detox. They (in their own hilarious way) revealed the 10 queens competing for the coveted All Stars crown this go around, which turned out to be Gia Gunn, Latrice Royale, Manila Luzon, Monet X Change, Monique Heart, Valentina, Trinity Taylor, Farrah Moan, Jasmine Masters and Naomi Smalls.

Then they announced who the judges will be for AS4, which is a bevy of whose who when it comes to awesomeness in Hollywood. This includes decorated Olympian Gus Kenworthy, pop star Rita Ora and many more.

Their latest promo to get your attention takes the classic Christmas jingle "Carol of the Bells" and gives it an amazing All Stars 4 twist. Check it out below. AS4 premieres December 14th at 8:00 PM on VH1.

How The ‘All Stars 4’ Eliminations Should Go

We are less than one month away from the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4, which will kick off December 14th on VH1.

It feels as if we were just finishing up both season 10 and All Stars 3 recently, but here we are again! It’s totally understandable as to why World of Wonder and the network would want to start things up so soon given the momentum this show has had in 2018. They practically swept the reality categories at the 2018 Emmys and have continued their ascension to the top of pop culture with every catchphrase these queens come up with.

AS4 could potentially be a phenomenal season given the bevy of talent that is competing. You have 8 newbies to this RPDR spinoff and two that are returning for a second chance at that coveted title. Within ten of these queens there is one, at least from my POV, that is a clear winner.

Just a heads up: I know nothing about anything regarding how the show will develop, this is just my opinion on how I think the eliminations could possibly go if I had it my way. So please take this list with a grain of salt… hunties.

See below for how I think the order should go, from last to first, on All Stars 4.

10. Monique Heart (Season 10). It’s very difficult to do a show like this when your season just finished. Two have done very well in the past (Chad Michaels won AS1 shortly after season 4 finished and Katya made top 3 in AS2 right after season 7 was done) but suffice to say its hard for any queen to really make it that far when you still really aren’t on an “all-star” level in your career yet. To me, Monique isn’t ready yet, as she was more known for her catchphrases and putting together outfits last minute (sickening still). She would fare better in an All Stars 5 or 6 level, but then again… I could be wrong.

9. Farrah Moan (Season 9). Farrah, like Monique, was a GIF/MEME queen. She didn’t do well at all in her season outside of her fantastic fashion choices. Her promo mentioned that she has her game face on, but I still think her personality pales in comparison to the very strong ones that will be competing alongside of her. It will be interesting, however, to see how her and Valentina’s dynamic will play out given how dramatically things ended with them in season 9.

8. Gia Gunn (Season 6). She’ll bring the attitude that’s needed and necessary for a show like this the same way (if not more) than she did in season 6. It’s also amazing that Gia is the first openly trans queen to compete on All Stars. I’m torn between if she will go the distance or if she’ll leave early as her first go around wasn’t exactly that spectacular. If she’s able to get it together in the challenges and not just in her reading abilities, then she could definitely be a force in this game.

7. Jasmine Masters (Season 7). If there is ever a queen to get “Ru-demption” then Jasmine takes the cake. She went out 3rd on S7 in a very ballsy kind of manner, so this would be a great chance for her to give viewers a different and hopefully elongated side that we didn’t see the first time around.

6. Trinity Taylor (Season 9). Trinity to me seems to be a middle of the road kind of queen. She’s one of the more vocally ferocious ones of the group, so it will be interesting to see how she plays the game, but I don’t really see her winning that crown in the end as I sometimes forget that she was even in the final four back in season 9.

5. Monet X Change (Season 10). Yes, her and Monique were on the same season, but Monet went way further than her and could’ve won had it not been for her placing in the bottom so many times (I still think she won that lip sync against Kameron Michaels). To me, Monet is more focused and readier for something like this and can easily go far if she plays her cards right both in the competition and the strategy.

4. Latrice Royale (Season 4 and AS1). I think pretty much everyone in the world would love to see Latrice win… but that’s to her detriment. If she makes it this far, regardless of how she plays the game, it will be tough for her to win or not get eliminated due to her likability. Fingers crossed though.

3. Valentina (Season 9). I’m torn between Val and who I have in second place as it could go either way. I’m no fool: Valentina is not getting eliminated early on. She’s too polarizing for that. But I do see her trying to right a wrong with the lip sync snafu that happened in her season and dominating the competition to a certain level.

2. Naomi Smalls (Season 8). Naomi is the wild card here, but I see her making it to the end. People slept on her in season 8, primarily because it was the Bob/Kim show… but she stood next to them in finale night and rightfully so. Expect that to happen again in AS4.

1. Manila Luzon (Season 3 and AS1). It’s Manila’s game to lose in my opinion. She’s incredibly smart, fashionable, wise and talented beyond belief. That’s not taking anything away from the other 9, but I do believe it’s her time to finally win something she should’ve won many moons ago (sorry, Raja).
